African Bird was the product of a long-time collaboration with South African flautist, Khanyisile Mthetwa. The music was drawn from several concert programmes over years of touring South Africa, and combines South African classical music, American urban classical and even a jazz arrangement of Bheki Mseleku’s Angola. Interspersed with the music are poems read by South African artist Nonzwakwazi.
